MINI-BIOMIMICRY EXPEDITION IN THE KZN MIDLANDS, SOUTH AFRICA, 20-22 APRIL 2018

Explore an indigenous mist-belt Forest in the beautiful KZN Midlands - through the lens of Biomimicry. Learn (/deepen your learning of) biomimicry and apply it to the redesign of our world. 

VENUE: Misty Meadows Farm, Dargle, KZN Midlands

DATE: Fri 6pm-8pm, Sat 9am-4.30pm, Sun 9am-12pm.

FACILITATOR: Claire Janisch, Biomimicry Professional

COST: R1500/person includes tuition & workbooks, tea/coffee & biscuits (not including foo/accommodation). Early bird booking fee: R1000/person if book before 15 February 2018. NGO and student discounts available on request. Special rate for KZN midlands locals.

ACCOMMODATION: Is not included. There are many options available in the KZN Midlands (stay near Il Postino in the Dargle, KZN). There is an option to camp within a mist-belt forest camp near the venue, providing weather allows for it (lightning storms can be a problem).

CONTENT:

This mini-expedition will cover the content of Biomimicry101, Genius of Place and iSites. You will spend most of your time outdoors, with some presentations and activities indoors. You will learn the basics of Biomimicry Thinking & Methodology and have an introduction to Life's Principles. You will explore case studies that illustrate how biomimicry can inform the redesign of our world. You will also apply biomimicry practically on a mini-design challenge. For anyone who has completed a Biomimicry101 before, this is an opportunity to learn further. We will provide you with activities that deepen your learning and experience of biomimicry in the field.

Note, the venue is approx 1,5hrs drive from Durban and 5hrs drive from Jhb.
